With extensive influences including everything from progressive metal, shoe gaze, to indie, Color Motive's sound brings in shimmery synths with orchestral and jazz elements reaching all ends of the spectrum. Their debut album "Elevate" covers a wide dynamic range, and plays with unusual song structures. Heavy detuned instrumentation enveloped by breathy melodic vocals, creating a unique take on modern metal.

Formed in Nashville, Tennessee, the band began working on what would be their debut album, "Elevate". The instrumental writing process took place in Nashville, while vocalist Justin Heroldt wrote vocals in Phoenix, Arizona. After the album was written, Justin moved to Nashville and the band began the recording process DIY. Drums were recorded in a garage, guitars and bass were recorded in a home studio, and vocals were recorded in various different rooms. Everything you see and hear was done by the four piece.
